In the Blue August Moon
It gets even bigger! These are the first words that came through as I sat down to allow the Piscean Blue SuperMoon flow through… Which is kind of funny given that in literal terms this is the biggest moon of the year, not of the year to date, but of the entire year. The beautiful reflective light of our Earthly satellite is passing more closely to us than it has or will for the entire year; it will be big and bright; creating some of the highest and lowest tides that we will see all year - and like the waters of the Earth it will also pull upon our waters.
So yes, this is a Big Moon, in the physical sense, but as with all things the physical is a representation of the spiritual (which includes our emotional and mental states of being also); this being both a Pisecean Lunation and a Blue Moon we are being gifted some serious access to our emotional body. I hear a call to explore the color blue as we wade even deeper into this lunar water, and as I do I am hearing “..and I guess that's why they call it the blues”, this color represents longing that runs so deep, a grief that reminds you what it means to love - it is the color most often associated with Mary the Mother, with a compassion that knows no bounds, that has no rules, a love that is truly unconditional. Within our energy body, blue is associated with our centers of expression and communication with both our worldly and otherworldly senses. The vibrant blue of the throat chakra, the rich azurite blue of our deepest heart chamber, the indigo hues of our third eye and the lustrous blue of the causal chakra; A blue aura, like a blue sea or sky reminds us of smooth sailing, a calming presence. Now a Blue Moon, is of course not actually blue in color, rather it is the name given to the second Full Moon in a given month, the name derives from a saying that dates back to the 16th century “The Moon is Blue'' which was used to indicate that something was impossible - there was a series of events that occurred which cemented this term to these lunar events; typos and misattributions first in 1946 and then in 1980, that collided together to create the colloquialism we enjoy today. There is something so beautiful about this and we are invited to allow these waves of frequency to wash over us now - A term which once meant something impossible, is now used to describe a phenomenon that while rare occurs every couple years - a reflection of the previous impossible seeming levels of Lovelight that are becoming ever more present in our world…
Like the color Blue, the sign of Pisces is also associated with the deep (also called higher) heart space; and this lunation is reflecting its big big light right into this space - To say this is an emotional moon feels like a massive understatement.. As I begin to bring in cosmic players of this novella, there is an offering for rest, for ease and for grace; this moon is likely to bring with it waves of tears and grief, a sense that something is leaving, that things will never be the same, that you will never be the same and that you are being asked to re-lease some of the bigger aspects of your world, things which you have been holding onto even as they rot away in your hands. Alrighty then with that lets call in the archetypal energies that are templating this big re-lease for us…
Beginning with the Sun at 7 of Virgo, the sign of the Virgin, of coming into a state of perfection - we often equate Virgo’s with an almost Type A sort of personality, the need to categorize and organize, to find a place for everything and everything in its place - this is in fact an expression of the true nature of the “virgin” energy; to bring the human body into greater connection with the divine. To clear away the cobwebs that have been ravaged by the winds and rains of the world that the beauty of the delicate weaving may be revealed. When the Moon is Full we are gifted the reflection of the Sun’s light through the sign that holds the “opposite” energy to where it resides. I place the word opposite in quotes because the astrological wheel is actually more like a color wheel - that which is opposite actually falling into a complementary rather than an ‘opponent’ state; with this re-membering we call in our big beautiful Piscean Super Full Moon - finding ourselves in the deep waters of the dream world, Virgo reflecting the light of the Sun into our dreams like a dappling of light upon the waters of our being. This big big Moon is not alone however, at 7 of Pisces the Moon is conjunct to the priestess energy of Magdalena (recently returned to forward motion) in an exact conjunction with the Guardian of the Southern Gate the Royal Fixed Star Fomalhaut at 4 of Pisces and the still retrograde Saturn now at 3 degrees.. The star Fomalhaut is connected to the Southern Gate across the wheel from Regulus to which the Sun conjuncted as it moved into the sign of Virgo - the Southern direction is connected to where we have been - with this bright moon in conjunction we are invited to let this light reflect and refract deep within our beings and explore all the used to be, all the old emotional, mental and physical structures (Saturn retrograde) to find what no longer works and re-lease it, calling the shimmering golden-blue light contained within (the gifts) to the surface that we may build them into our new. Fomalhaut has also been connected to the Archangel Gabriel, who is known both as the messenger - during this Full Moon you are invited to call upon this stellar energy, upon the Magdalena and Archangel Gabriel, to ask for those messages that will help you discover what you are being asked to re-lease and for the grace to accept the gifts that this death reveals.
One of the energies of Pisces can be that of a spiritual seeker who stands alone, it is the sign of hermits and monks and interestingly there is a bit of aloofness to this Full Moon; a sense that it is time nows to separate ourselves from the world in order to go deeper within. This slightly apart stance is also evident in the chart itself - your see though there is much happening all around the Sun, the Moon and it's colleagues Magdelena, Fomalhaut & Saturn, they are also in many ways unconnected to these happenings; it is only through bringing in a fine tooth comb, that the layers where the connections can be found are revealed. Which in and of itself is a powerful reminder of the energetic template of this lunation.
Let’s start weaving shall we… beginning by traveling a bit deeper into the earthly realms of Virgo, where we find Mercury, now retrograde at 19 degrees. This quicksilver messenger of the gods will transit all the way back to 8 degrees of Virgo before turning around again on the 15th of September just a few hours after the Libra New Moon; during this interval he will meet the Sun, they pass through each other on the 6th; we get ahead of ourselves however.. We find a very active Messenger during his Virgoian retrograde, which is actually made all the more beautiful as Mercury is also the ruler of Virgo… Let’s begin this weaving with some lovely Trine energy, and with that we call in the Warrior Goddess Pallas-Athena, sitting at 23 of Virgo - Athena feels like she is asking us to help clear out her closet, by which of course I mean all the armaments that we have placed upon her; she is a perfect symbol for the type of purifying that I have been feeling as a loud aspect of this lunation. You see Pallas was not always a war goddess, in fact she was a leader of a Virgin Priestess temple; As the era we we are currently emerging from (the patriarchy) began, her story was transformed, a myth arose to suit the needs of the time; she became a warrior and a punisher of other women in particular; the myth of Athena and Medusa is an example of this. As the new era rises, she is here in the virgin temple again in an exact Trine to Uranus; the Great Awakener who will shift retrograde in Taurus the day before this Full Moon on the 29th of August. An invitation to dive deep into these myths and awaken the gifts hidden within - to begin to embody the wholeness that can be found only through re-leasing the false narratives that have been fed to us and embracing our true story. Mercury is aiding us in this spelunking as the messenger connects us with Jupiter at 15 of Taurus - literally splitting the difference between the Great Benefic and the Great Awakener, weaving between these two players connecting Pallas to Zeus (Jupiter), helping us to correct the record, as it were, and then carry this newer truer state of being into the future. You see Athena was said to have been born without a mother, the myth states that she emerged fully armored and ready to fight from Zeus’s forehead; can you feel here echoes of the current reclaiming of the feminine - how this is not about ‘avenging’ but rather about forgiving. Not simply of daughters forgiving fathers, or the feminine forgiving the masculine; but also of allowing the masculine and feminine aspects of our being to come into a state of forgiveness within ourselves, to see where we have shamed or chastised either of these aspects of our being - this is how wholeness blooms and how we enter more fully this cycle of coming together not rising above nor pulling down.
We will leave the Awakener and the Benefic now, and continue on with the Messenger and the Pallas Priestess in Virgo, who are not ‘technically’ conjunct by degree through a series of beautiful bridgings find their connection. We witnessed one of these bridges with Jupiter and Uranus, another forms a powerful Mutable Grand Cross in our skies, with Neptune retrograde at 26 of Pisces, still in Square to the Galactic Center in Sagittarius and also now with Vesta at 25 of Gemini, these three connect to Pallas at 23 of Virgo; while Mercury at 19 of Virgo is squaring with Medusa at 15 of Gemini and the Great Attractor at 15 of Sagittarius - together they are helping us jump through the gaps, to clear away the debris along our reclamation path, and to navigate difficult conversations that we have avoided, not just with others but with ourselves. Just as Mercury and Uranus helped the Pallas and Zeus come to terms, providing an energetic template for all of the Earth's ‘daughters’ to forgive the Father for ‘banishing’ the Mother; here Mercury and the Great Attractor help us to access that ‘sister wound’; by creating a bridge between Pallas and Medusa - as these two powerful archetypes negotiate peace we are able to also find a peace within that aspect of ourselves that has banished the mother, so to speak. All the while, Neptune who had their own role, as Posidien, to play in the Medusa-Athena story invites us deeper within, to see the fog that we have used to dampen our flame and limit our re-membering; as Vesta sitting across from the Galactic Center gathers the warmth of all this experience and like a Lighthouse Keeper shines bright light, I can hear now the Great Attractor saying here, let me help clear even more of that fog away for you. As I also hear these energies inviting you to let their modeling be a wayshowing for you, a reminder that despite how much times has passed or what the circumstances might be, we are in a moment now where the ‘fog of war’ can be cleared, and as we begin to see more clearly, with eyes less clouded by the fear and pain of past hurts - we can allow a forgiveness to move through our systems a forgiveness that is fueled by the Eternal Flame that is Love.
A Mutable Grand Cross indicates a season that is ending, it can be hard to let go, to move into a new way of being, especially if those around us seem to be standing still, stuck in the mud or ‘ostriching’ with heads buried deep.. How do we forgive someone if they are unable to forgive themselves? From my personal experience with my own Mother and Father, I have left the forgiveness and love at their doorstep; a package there for them should they come to a point where they are able to accept it, is where I currently find our relationship; to allow the negotiations to continue in the Astral and Causal planes, a soul conversation as it were, even while in the physical a relationship is not happening. The other day in one such conversation with my Mother, she asked me about this forgiveness, she repeated a line she has often spoken to me “I thought you had already forgiven me for that” - I said yes it is still there waiting for you; I then asked her, “have you found your forgiveness yet?” Have you gone within and witnessed that part of yourself that you are afraid to look at? Have you forgiven yourself? She answered instead, but I thought your love and forgiveness was unconditional.. I said oh yes it is, but you also have to make the space within yourself to accept it, otherwise it simply lays there at your feet unopened, while you continue to ask for another.. She said if your love and forgiveness is unconditional then why do we not speak, why do you keep me at a distance. I answered Mother, Unconditional Love does not mean Unconditional Relationship..
This is a place where we have come to so much trouble, somewhere along the line of this human journey we decided that if we love someone, we must stay with them regardless of the harm that may cause us. In many ways it feels like this is what the Aries-Libra nodal transit is helping us come to terms with. To remember that adage if you love something set it free.. To truly love unconditionally means that it comes without barriers nor bars, and a love like this begins first within self. We can get glimpses of it outside of self, like the love of a parent for a child or that we feel for an animal that we care for. However until we can find this love within our ability to receive and share it is limited and therefore conditional. As the North Node transits through Aries we are invited to love ourselves without boundaries, to say I love my-self so much that I will walk away from this relationship that is not my truth, even if I fear being judged. I love my-self so much that I can walk away from those aspects of my-self that are not my truth any longer. I can even walk through the fear of my inner critic. That voice within that says, no wait, stop, what will “they” think, but it will hurt so badly, it will hurt your mother, it will hurt your father, it will hurt your partner, it will hurt society, you can’t possibly live your truth everything will fall apart.
Let’s remind that voice together that love is not a thing to be caged, it is a flame that burns through all.
This feels a most beautiful way to call in the energies of not the Pisces Full Moon but of the 4th of September. In many ways this Super Blue Moon feels like it's clearing the path for this powerful energy portal. I will begin with a roll call of the astrological templating (much of which is beginning to activate as the full moon peaks). As Venus at the 12:12 of Leo begins to turn around and slowly resume forward motion again, this template of divine feminine creation energy sits in a tight Square to Jupiter who at 15 of Taurus on this same day begins to slow, station and then begin a backwards dance. The square alone is an auspicious event, as Venus and Jupiter together invite us to explore and expand within our relationships; switching directions on the same day while Square dancing, well that do-se-do is a sort of outstretched arm spin that creates even closer contact on the return; and indeed over the next week Venus will slowly spin ever closer to Jupiter, tightening the Square. While this square dance is afoot another T-Square is also happening over in the Cardinal signs, The Aries North Node moves into an exact conjunction with Eris, while the Libra South Node is joined by Ceres, Osiris and moves ever closer to the stellar dimension of Arcturus; with our retrograde Pluto in Capricorn crossing them all.
I have been feeling this 4th day of September as a powerful day for deep diving into the Akashic Records, for calling upon your team/ guides and the beings that hold the keys to the hall of records. Perhaps you can even re-member as Venus and Jupiter dance that the easiest access point to this library of soul is through your expanded heart space. Eris in conjunction with the North Node invites you to be unwavering in your pursuit for equality; a word that can feel loaded but when re-membered through a lens of self love can be a mighty powerful ally. While Ceres, the Goddess of the Harvest in conjunction with Osiris and the South Node in Libra invite us to sow the seeds of this re-membering to stand up and say, I will take no prisoners and I will no longer imprison my-Self.
As I cycle this CLD to a close I am called to share little piece about Avenging, so many of our stories in this dissolving era are about taking revenge; but if I say to unto you, your brother wronged me, I shall avenge this by wronging you, where does it end? For then the one you served this vengeance upon has a partner, a sibling, a child who seeks vengeance for the vengeance you begat. We have taken this to its farthest reaches now, so often even seeking vengeance upon an aspect of our-selves for a wrong that was inflicted within. The shame spiral, self doubt and minimizing; our mental body attacking our emotional body; our emotional body waging war upon our physicality, are but a few examples of this. When John Lennon sang the words “War is Over, if you want it” this is what he meant, that the only way to end war is to allow a ceasefire within our being, and to then reflect the beautiful love light that expands and grows from this newly tilled soil out into the world.
You are invited to view this as the sort of chaotic creation that Eris is so famous for, while working in complementary hues with Ceres.. it is not an apple of vengeance that she lobbed into the wedding reception it was an apple of discord that she sent in her stead; A seed that prior to planting felt unfamiliar and scary, like a note played in the wrong key, yet as the garden grew what appeared to be in disharmony was simply a new fruit that can feed us in ways never before imagined.
