Connecting To Our Choices
(To Cross and Cross and Cross again)
In each moment of waking life, and honestly sleeping too, we are making choices. Much of the time we are not conscious of these choices. Sometimes because the path feels well tread, say how you drive/ walk to work each morning or what you do first when you wake up for the day. Other times perhaps we think that there was never a choice at all. It is predestined, fated. Many times we journey through life with the idea that most events are out of our control, the problem is too big, the peak too high to climb. Without realizing that deciding you have no choice is also a choice.
As I feel into the energy of the Pisces Full Moon Lunar Cycle, and the next few months of the year, there is a sense we are being asked to bring our awareness to even our most unconscious choices. In the Virgo New Moon Light Drop I spoke quite a bit about the energies of Mars’ extra long stay in Gemini. This energy is really just getting started. On 3 September Mars passed through the 8th degree of Gemini entering what is known as its pre-retrograde shadow. What does this mean? Well, whenever a planet begins retrograde motion there is a point, a degree, the farthest back it goes before turning around. Mars begins moving backwards on 30 October retracing his steps through the sign of expression and communication until coming back to 8 degrees Gemini and beginning forward motion again on 12 January 2023. From an energetic perspective, we could feel this shadow period as a first run through of the energies, a time to get the lay of the land. To Survey our field of consciousness so that we know where to dig, pull weeds and till the soil during the coming retrograde.
Unlike the other planets who retrograde basically every year, some even spending large swaths of each year Retrograde. Mars, our closest neighbor, only goes retrograde every couple of years. This means that the energy of these retrogrades can be quite powerful. The energy can feel unfamiliar, so this long shadow gives us some time to get our bearings. Another way to get your bearings may be to tune into the energies of 9 September - 13 November 2020, which was the last Mars Retrograde, with a reminder that we can now view this time period from our current elevated perspective.
Speaking of retrogrades, just before the Full Moon peaks, we find Mercury, the ruler of Gemini, going retrograde in Libra. Inviting us to connect at an even deeper level with our internal dialogue. This brings us to a total of 6 major planets in retrograde during the month of September, holding the door to our unconscious wide open..
With the Full Moon sitting conjunct Neptune in the sign of Pisces, you could say that the door is wide open and the porch light is on. We are being given big access to our unconscious realms and the way our beliefs and dreams influence our reality.
There is another aspect that keeps calling to me, so let’s invite them in. Hekate, The Triple Goddess, Torchholder and Guardian of the Crossroads is sitting in the sign of family, relationships, and belonging; Cancer. Directly, and I mean directly, across from Quaoar in Capricorn, the sign of Karma, Time, Foundations and Structures. Making a very tight Cardinal Grand Cross with Jupiter and Salacia in Aries and the aforementioned Mercury and Makemake in Libra. I spoke a bit about Cardinal Grand Cross energy in the Aries New Moon Creator Being Cardinal Grand Cross - the Creator is I AM Energy Update. We find some of the same players within this Pisces Full Moon Cardinal Grand Cross and some new. This time almost all of the players are moving retrograde, sensing a theme here. The only forward motion comes from Hekate and Makemake.
The first activation of this Grand Cross occurred about a week after the Aries Equinox, as we began the current Astrological cycle, the Aries New Moon. This latest activation takes place about a week before the Libra Equinox. A day when the scales balance before tipping to the new. Whatever that new may hold. Cardinal energy is about calling in the new, it represents rebirth, the beginning of a season.
Take a moment now to feel into the energy of Hekate, standing at this cross-roads, holding up her torch. She’s showing us where we have come from, all the choices made; the roads taken, over the last few months. This Full Moon, happening in the last sign of the zodiac Pisces. finds Luna shining a light on where we are heading as Hekate’s torch guides us and shows all the roads we can take to get there.
With all the retrograde motion in this cross, lunar cycle, and month there is a prompting to explore the paths we’ve taken. To review and reflect upon the choices we’ve made; how they are the foundations upon which we stand; creating the template that allows us to be where we are right now. Can you allow this reflection to come from a place of love rather than judgment?
Venus has just entered Virgo, the Goddess of Love has also begun her transition (star point) from morning star to evening. In many locations she has already disappeared from view not to return again until sometime in December depending on your lat/ long. Venus is holding you through this time of reflection saying “oh love, it's ok, no one is perfect. Maybe it wasn’t even a ‘mistake’, it brought you here, now. Gifting you with wisdom, now you can develop a healthier habit”. Some lovely ‘when you know better, you can do better’ energy.
Speaking of healthier habits, Quaoar wants the floor. The creator being of the LA Basin Tongva peoples, who sings and dances the world into being. This energy is ALLLL about remembering that we do not need to learn through suffering. An archetypal template of the energy held in the Rumi Poem We Three “'This Dance is the Joy of Existence'”. Hekate is pointing right at this path, almost as if the Triple Goddess is saying YES! WE THREE!! Dance Dance Dance and Sing, this is The Joy of Existence.
I know I indicated in the last light drop that we were leaving Fixed Grand Cross energy behind, and we are. However, this is fixed energy so it moves slowly and there is another activation that wants to come through. Let’s feel into this energy through an acorn starting to unravel, exposing its first tentative roots. These roots get bigger and stronger yet from the surface all the action remains unseen. Almost imperceptible to the “naked eye” this seedling grows, until one day a tiny little green shoot appears above the ground. Now we can see some of the amazing activity that has been happening. We can monitor the growth, yet these shifts are still very subtle. We are at this sort of transition point now. The first green shoots of the New Earth are starting to show even as the leaves from above are falling atop. Can we also remember that these falling leaves are actually protecting the tenderfoot seedling through the winter months. Astrologically this energy is being templated for us as Isis, still in Leo, makes an exact Square to a now fully retrograde Uranus in Taurus at 18°. Uranus is not so conjunct the nodes anymore, they are now a few degrees away. Hygeia in Scorpio making a Square to and Saturn in Aquarius, at 20°, completes our Cross. There is something very interesting that Hygeia is exact with Saturn as Uranus is exact with Isis. Uranus and Isis represent transformation, Isis and Hygeia Profound Healing, Uranus and Hygeia, Lightning Fast Awakening, Saturn our Foundations. Allowing us to really see the places we can heal quickly. Oh look over there, a clump of weeds growing through a crack in the foundation. We can pull those, tear out the rot and build the new right here. Yippee, this doesn’t need to be painful, ascension can be fun. As I typed these words a song came on, a favorite of mine called Andromeda by Weyes Blood, this lyric wanted to be shared: “Love is calling, it's time to let it through”. Perfection!
We can’t move through this energy without inviting Ceres (Demeter), this is the Harvest Moon after all. Still conjunct with Isis; Ceres, The Goddess of Harvest is actually at 20° Leo, so exactly square to Hygeia and Opposite Saturn. Remember those healthier habits Venus was talking about.. This feels like we are being asked to explore our choices around not just what we eat, but how we access our food. You are what you eat after all. So Ceres-Isis and Saturn say let’s get together to create a healthier way to nourish our bodies.
Isis is also still in a loose Trine with Chiron in Aries, which gifts us an ability to explore our fears around our creative potential, all the places we’ve been told we do not have the power to transform the world.
Before we move further into trine energy there is another Cross to explore, a Mutable Grand Cross… Yes we have a Grand Cross in all three astrological qualities; in each of the Triplicites as they are sometimes called. Mutable Signs hold the frequency of endings, representing the end of seasons. Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces and Gemini. This particular Cross is most activated during the Equinox Portal. With the Sun and Venus in Virgo, opposite Neptune in Pisces. They are Square to Medusa-Magdalena in Sagittarius and Altjira-Mars in Gemini. Rather than taking a super deep dive into this particular Grand Cross it is the frequency that these three grand crosses bring in all working together. Over the next couple weeks from the Full Moon through to the Equinox. The Fixed begins to shift out as the Mutable becomes more active, yet all throughout the energy of the New, the Cardinal, with all its yummy creator-being energies is still going strong. The Meadow meditation that I posted during the Virgo New Moon holds this energy, Hekate also holds this energy. This is very much the little seedling, still growing, not suffocated by the blanket of leaves that have fallen upon it but instead protected from the cold and growing stronger, even if we cannot see it so well.
There is another way that this energy of creating the new while the old falls away is being templated for us in the skies during this coming Full Moon. Our South Node in Scorpio is in an exact trine with a retrograde Juno, marriage, family structures, belonging they are making a slightly loose but very much active Grand Water trine with Black Moon Lilith in Cancer (Juno’s home). Lilith’s energies have been very active throughout this year so far, go deeper here and here). With this Trine she seems to be saying; hey it's time to rethink the way we’ve been doing this feminine-masculine thing. Gifting us with an ability to truly see the way we’ve been doing it (South Node Scorpio) allowing us to Dream of a different sort of family, community structure (Juno in Pisces).
I can really feel a desire to dive deep into the Medusa-Magdalena frequencies., Medusa is a bit of an exception for September, she has recently begun moving forward again. Medusa shifted out of Retrograde as we bridged the Portal of Destiny and Lionsgate energies on 4 August. During Equinox she will once again be exactly atop the Galactic Center. I have spoken quite a bit about the Medusa story and the amazing empowerment energy she is bringing through for us during our current cycle. You can find those updates Here and Here.
Speaking of Centers… on the Equinox, as Medusa Dances atop the Center of the Milky Way, Mercury and the Sun now both in Libra will be bringing through messages/ light codes from the Supra Galactic Center, also called the Galactic Pole. A super massive Black Hole which our Galaxy and 29 or so others orbit around. Actually this is what has become of our Cardinal Grand Cross once we reach the Equinox. Across from the Sun-Mercury-Galactic Pole (Makemake, more loosely) we have Manwe-Jupiter-Salacia in Aries. Crossing them all we have Quaoar-Ixion in Capricorn and Hekate is still lighting our path in Cancer. There is so much to say about the energies on offer during the upcoming Equinox. One piece that has been very loud for me these last few weeks is that a massive upgrade is being brought through the Equinox portal. Before we close this installment of Cosmic Light Drops, there is another little piece to share about choices. During the next couple months we have a lot of mutable energy but we also have a lot of energy in signs that reflect choice. With Neptune in Pisces, Mars’ Odyssey in Gemini and Mercury, soon the Sun and let’s not forget also Makemake in Libra. Each of these signs represents choice, two paths. They represent the emotions held in our subconscious (Pisces), how the way we think-express ourselves (Gemini) and how we connect to others (Libra) are often reflections of our mental state. If we can, as often as possible, truly connect with how we are feeling and what we are thinking before making a choice (or choosing not to). We can achieve great things. We can become the masters of our own destiny. The famous quote by Jung comes to mind “Until we make the Unconscious Conscious it will rule our lives and we will call it fate”. The universe is creating a perfect energetic template to help you explore your unconscious, to heal the wounds, to explore the patterns that have kept you feeling like a hamster in a wheel. To let that wheel become a spiral, become the seed of life, become the flower. To remember your unique and invaluable thread, so that you can begin to weave it into the tapestry of the universe with conscious intent.
